***MAJOR trigger warning: rape for video***
New Zealand campaign “Who Are You?” video highlights importance of bystander intervention to prevent rape.
This is really arresting.
Rape prevention ad at it’s finest.
If you feel that something is wrong, if you suspect something, speak up!
Wow, strong. Good.
Why doesn’t the US have ads like this? WE NEED THEM
This was a REALLY well done ad. Please note there are a few seconds of flashing lights though if you’d like to watch it.
I am really quite impressed with this. And No victim blaming throughout!

the self-loathing of being limited by what you were born being, and how big and distressing and heavy of an idea it is that no one truly knows how far away from shore the emotions can pull you — or why.
most of the time it’s forgivable, but sometimes it’s intolerable.

› The True Meaning of Pictures: Shelby Lee Adams' Appalachia (2002)
Directed by Jennifer Baichwal. With Shelby Lee Adams, Chad Baker, Donnie Benton, Burley Childers. The meaning of art itself comes into question in this documentary about Shelby Lee Adams’ controversial photos of families in Appalachia.
have you watched this? you should.
this has been one of my favorite movies since i saw it 10 years ago. the way shelby lee adams uses high wattage flash packs and large format film along with the natural day-to-day setting he catches appalachia in is… ugh. sometimes it’s incredibly beautiful but sometimes it’s almost unbearable. the pictures are enough, but learning more about the people and the reality you don’t know makes it close to surreal.
i am making cupcakes for some rad friends who just won a major award*, and i can’t decide on which of these flavors to make. i am going to make two kinds, and i need help choosing or else i will be stuck choosing forever.
